Taiping Red Bridge

Following the Sankeng Cycling Path, you can ride directly to the Taiping Red Bridge, which was once voted one of the top 100 historical buildings nationwide. Located in Sankeng Village, Longtan District, it is named 'Red Bridge' because its entire structure is built from red bricks. The bridge was constructed in 1923, initiated by residents of Taiping and Sankeng Villages. Its construction was supported by subsidies from the Zhuang-Yakuba (a local administrative office at the time, equivalent to today's district office), donations from local villagers, and contributions from Japanese donors. Okura Gumi Construction was responsible for its building, using the same exposed bricks as those employed in the Taoyuan Main Canal project.
