In the Gaoyi area, located in the upper reaches of the Dahan River at an elevation of around 700 to 800 meters, lies a mini-tribe with a population of just over a hundred people. After more than a decade of community development, it was selected by the Taiwan Tourism Administration as a 'Non-District International Spotlight Program Settlement'. Upon arriving at Biyawai Tribe, you'll immediately see colorful Swinhoe's Pheasant sculptures and murals at the entrance. The Atayal people living here embrace a lifestyle of respecting nature and cherishing resources, coexisting peacefully with nature. In addition to successful conservation efforts for the Swinhoe's Pheasant—an endemic species of Taiwan—you can also spot wild animals such as Mikado Pheasants, civets, and masked palm civets roaming through the vast primitive forests. Follow a tribal guide to explore the mountains and forests and discover a Shangri-La nestled among the peaks, which will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories.
