Daxi Zhaiming Temple

Zhaiming Temple is located in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, a place known for its spiritual energy and outstanding people. In 1873, the first abbot, Master Xingyue, brought back a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva from Mount Putuo in the South China Sea and established a hermitage in his hometown for pure cultivation, thus beginning Zhaiming Temple's century-long history. Later, due to the flourishing of Zhaijiao (Vegetarianism Sect) beliefs in Taiwan, Zhaiming Temple came under the patronage of Zhaijiao devotees. In 1999, the sixth abbot, Layperson Jiang Zhangren, entrusted Dharma Drum Mountain to take over the temple's affairs, with Master Sheng Yen being appointed as the seventh abbot, marking its return to orthodox Buddhism.
