The Taoyuan City Martyrs' Shrine, located on Hutoushan in Taoyuan City, was completed in 1938. Its predecessor was the 'Taoyuan Shinto Shrine' built by the Japanese, and it is the most completely preserved Japanese colonial era shrine in Taiwan. Its architectural style blends ancient Chinese Tang dynasty, Japanese, and modern Taiwanese influences, and it was constructed using premium Taiwan cypress. It was officially designated as a city-level historic site in 1994. Due to its unique historical and cultural value, it was chosen as a filming location for the movie 'KANO,' allowing audiences to deeply experience the nostalgic memories of the 1930s.
