The Kinmen County Livestock Research Institute was established in 1958, originally known as the Kinmen County Horse Ranch. It was renamed Kinmen County Livestock Farm in 1979 and reorganized again as the Kinmen County Livestock Research Institute in 1985. It is dedicated to the development of the local livestock industry and the production and sale of "Green Grassland" fresh milk. Since 2011, it has introduced Australian Brangus cattle for breeding management and promotion, and continues to promote the local "Kinmen Kaoliang Lees Beef".
