Jindong Cinema

Jindong Cinema is located in Yangdi, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, Speaker of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema as a place for soldiers to relax and entertain, as a tribute to the officers and soldiers on the Kinmen frontline. In those days, the cinema was always packed, with every show sold out. The adjacent Yangdi neighborhood subsequently developed into a bustling commercial street with barbershops, billiard rooms, and bathhouses. Today, the renovated Yangdi Old Street still retains some of the shops from that era, with weathered iron signs and handwritten ink shop names on the walls. Jindong Cinema itself still exudes the ambiance of the 1940s, with its simple brick and concrete architecture, scratched wooden counters, wooden seats, and red-on-white slogans like "What are we fighting for?" on the walls, leaving behind vivid historical memories.
