Huishan Temple

Yangzhai is one of the oldest settlements in Kinmen. Its founding ancestor, Chen Da, was the 10th-generation grandson of Chen Zheng. In the 3rd year of Qianhua of the Later Liang in the Five Dynasties (913 AD), when Wang Shenzhi proclaimed himself king in Min, he appointed Chen Da as Chengshi Lang, tasked with guarding the Tong'an Wuzhou salt fields. After receiving the appointment, Chen Da moved to Wuzhou and settled in what is now Yangzhai, adopting 'Yangzhai' as the place name, after the administrative seat of the Chen clan's Yingchuan Commandery.
