The Guningtou Battle Museum was built in 1984 by Lieutenant General Song Xin-lian, then commander of the Kinmen Defense Command, during his tenure. It commemorates the Battle of Guningtou, which determined the confrontational situation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. After its transfer from the Kinmen Defense Command to the Kinmen National Park Administration, the museum reopened in 2001. The museum primarily features 13 large oil paintings that illustrate the course of the Battle of Guningtou.
