Zhushan is located in the southwest of Kinmen Island, at the starting point of the West Island Ring Road. This is a single-surname settlement of the Xue clan. The Xue ancestors settled here from Xueling, Xiamen during the Yuan Dynasty, and it has a history of 650 years to this day. The clear and beautiful colors are the first impression upon entering Zhushan Settlement. The settlement is surrounded by highlands, with a large pond in the center, forming an auspicious feng shui spot known as "Four Waters Returning to the Pond." The entire settlement expands outwards from the ancestral temple as its center, built around the large pond. The ochre-red of the ancient brick walls and the deep green of the clear pond water reflect each other, creating a beautiful scene. Taking a walk up Zhushan Park to enjoy the distant view, or quietly admiring the exquisite brick carvings and Koji pottery art on the old houses, are all unmissable highlights of Zhushan Settlement.
