Koxinga's Troop Review and Chess Playing Site

Walk uphill for about 1.3 kilometers from the Yuzhang Road Archway to reach Koxinga's Troop Review and Chess Playing Site. This was where Koxinga and his advisors observed military maneuvers and strategized during wartime in the late Ming Dynasty, and played chess for leisure. There is a natural rock cave at the site. Inside, there were originally ancient tables and chairs carved with a chessboard, but these have all been destroyed. What is seen now was later reconstructed by the Taiwanese military. The platform next to the cave offers a high vantage point with a distant view; the scenery of the mainland across the sea is clearly visible, and the outline and crisscrossing fields of the western part of Kinmen Island are also clearly discernible. Prince Yanping (Koxinga) observing troops here indeed possessed unique foresight.
