The Kinmen Middle School's Chiang Kai-shek Auditorium is located on a highland between Jincheng's West Gate and Xiabuxia. It was constructed in October 1951 (ROC Year 40). The construction was carried out by Zhang Cailiang, commander of the 3rd Battalion, 20th Regiment of the Army Engineers at the time, with design by company commanders Liu Yunfeng, Chen Huaili, and Liao Guangyan, and drawings by Wang Yinglan and Xu Ganqian. All officers and soldiers were ordered to participate in its construction, which remarkably took only three months. At the time, General Hu Lien was the Commander of Kinmen. To foster a spirit of perseverance and struggle among Kinmen's military and civilians, he personally set an example by transporting stones from Shanqian Village, two kilometers away, to build the perimeter walls of the Chung-Cheng Hall. This act became a widely recounted story.
