Visitor Essentials
Yang Hua was a distinguished military general during the Qianlong and Jiaqing eras, who participated in the campaign against Lin Shuangwen and eradicated pirates. His old residence is a traditional Fujianese-style building, a 'sanluo dacuo' (three-courtyard mansion) with an attached left 'hurong' (side wing). The main hall features a 'sanchuanji' (three-ridge roof), and the front and rear halls are adorned with 'yitiaolong yanji' (dragon-ridge swallowtail roofs). The detailed decorations are extremely exquisite. Both the round dragon wood carvings and brick carvings on the door panels are remarkable. Although the elaborate painted decorations on the wooden structures of the beams, pillars, arches, and dougongs have faded, the powerful carving work is even more evident.
