To reach Haiyin Temple, one must first pass through an arched stone gate. Resembling a strategic pass for entry and exit, it is thus named Shimen Gate. It is one of the Twelve Scenic Wonders of Mount Taiwu. Shimen Gate is constructed from thick, meticulously crafted granite, topped with a roof featuring upturned eaves. Its four corners gently curve upwards, imparting a sense of lightness and elegance. On the horizontal plaque are the four characters "海山第一" (First of Sea and Mountain), hand-written by Lu Ruoteng, a loyal minister of the Ming Dynasty. It is currently listed as a county-designated historic site.
