Huang Xuanxian's Six-Route Grand Mansion

Huang Xuanxian was born in the mid-Qianlong era. His father served as a Han Wailang, and his descendants, who conducted business in Southeast Asia (Nanyang), also achieved remarkable success. The Huang residence is a Fujianese-style building featuring five bays with double side wings, known as a "six-route grand mansion." The front and rear sections seamlessly connect with dragon-shaped swallowtail ridges and hard-peak horse-back gables. The latticed doors and windows on the facade are adorned with exquisite wood carvings, while the decorative panels below the eaves (水車堵) are embellished with colorful paintings and cut-and-paste art depicting good fortune, prosperity, flowers, and birds. These elements collectively showcase the prosperity of overseas Chinese families and their aspiration to bring honor to their ancestors.
