Zhu Xi Memorial Hall

The Kinmen Zhu Xi Memorial Hall was established in the 26th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1687), located within Wujiang Academy. In the 35th year of the Qianlong reign (1770), Sub-prefect Cheng Yu, noting the academy's cramped space, proposed building additional halls and corridors, but the plan was not realized due to his departure from office. Later, it was purchased by the gentry member Huang Rushì, who converted it into an academy. It enshrined Zhu Xi, Kui Xing (God of Literature), Wenchang Dijun (God of Culture and Literature), Fude Zhengshen (God of Earth), as well as local Kinmen worthies such as Xu Sheng, Lü Dakui, Lin Xiyuan, Wang Lixing, Qiu Kui, and Xu Xie. In the 46th year of the Qianlong reign (1781), the original site of the academy was requisitioned for the county assistant magistrate's office. An academy and the Zhu Xi Memorial Hall were then rebuilt on the original site of the charitable school to its west.
