Visitor Essentials

The Lala Mountain Eco-Education Center is a building with two floors above ground and three underground levels, located at the starting point of the Lala Mountain Forest Trail, offering multi-functional services. It is the closest facility among all sites managed by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency to a pure Taiwan Red Cypress forest. Within the area, a circular trail of approximately 3,700 meters has been planned, based on the location of the cypress giant tree clusters. Along both sides of the trail, there are 22 interpretive signs for giant trees, introducing ecological information such as their species, age, and height. This is one of Taiwan's few precious cypress forests that can be experienced up close. In response to the establishment of the Lala Mountain National Forest Recreation Area and to provide the public with higher quality hardware and software services, the park has recently initiated improvement projects to transform the Eco-Education Center into a visitor center. Subsequently, improvement projects for the management station and box culverts will also commence. The construction period is expected to last until the end of January 2023. We kindly ask the public to bear with any inconvenience caused during the construction period. Visitors climbing the mountain are reminded to pay special attention to safety when passing through construction areas. Due to ongoing interior construction in the original building, it has been closed for safety reasons. Visitors to the park who need to use the restroom are advised to first go to the public restrooms next to the Shangbaling Parking Lot or the public restrooms next to the park entrance management station to save waiting time. Additionally, temporary restrooms are available in the parking lot, and the public restroom next to Giant Tree No. 4 on the trail continues to provide service.
