Visitor Essentials

Initially, the Wulai Scenic Train was only used for transporting timber. Due to the development of tourism at Wulai Waterfall and increasing visitor demand, passenger services officially began in 1963 (ROC Year 52), with visitors being pushed manually. To accommodate the growing number of visitors, it was motorized in 1974 (ROC Year 63), using diesel engines to propel the cars. Later, in 1987 (ROC Year 76), overcoming many challenges, a tunnel was excavated at the Waterfall Station to replace the original turntable for turning around, a system that remains in use today. The operating route covers 1.5 kilometers from Wulai to the Waterfall, running daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Operating hours are adjusted during the peak summer season, and it departs continuously to serve arriving passengers.
