The Dasyueshan Forest Area, rich in timber resources, led to the establishment of the Dasyueshan Forestry Company in 1956 (ROC Year 45) with the aim of utilizing these resources, generating economic profit, and fostering local prosperity. Construction of a large sawmill began in 1962 (ROC Year 51) and was completed in 1964 (ROC Year 53). At the time, advanced logging and sawmilling techniques were introduced, creating a pioneering forestry industry in Taiwan. The adoption of mechanized logging and truck transportation significantly increased efficiency and output. The large sawmill was inaugurated on May 26, 1964 (ROC Year 53). After nearly 10 glorious years, the American-style sawing equipment proved unsuitable for locally produced logs, resulting in significant timber waste. This led to the premature conclusion of timber production operations in the Dasyueshan Forest Area, and the sawmill ceased operations at the end of December 1973 (ROC Year 62).
