Dongyanshan Nature Education Center

Set amidst the Cryptomeria japonica forests on the lower ridges of the Xueshan Mountain Range, the center facilitates dialogues between 'people and people,' 'people and environment,' and 'people and society' through authentic environmental learning. The Dongyanshan Nature Education Center is located within the Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area, which is part of the Shimen Reservoir watershed and the western ridge of the Xueshan Mountain Range. The mountain's shape distinctly resembles the profile of a person lying down. Its name derives from the fact that the morning sun rises from the 'eye socket' position on this profile. The forest composition includes both neatly cultivated, aesthetically pleasing plantations and rich, diverse natural forests. Additionally, the area features unique geological landscapes, such as trace fossils left by shrimp and crabs from 30 million years ago, and other marine sedimentary formations.
