Aogu Wetland Forest Park

The Aogu Wetland Forest Park was originally a major base for the Taiwan Sugar Corporation, where land was reclaimed from the sea for agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and sugarcane cultivation. However, due to severe ground subsidence and seawater intrusion into the groundwater, the farm gradually declined and was abandoned. Its low-lying topography, coupled with surrounding sea dikes, meant that after heavy rains, the fish farms and former agricultural lands formed natural reservoirs. Over time, these ponds and wetland habitats attracted more and more migratory and resident birds, which settled and stayed here, eventually becoming the Aogu Wetland Forest Park as it is today. The extensive areas of reforestation will mature into forests in ten to twenty years, transforming Aogu Wetland into an international-level ecological environment boasting diverse forest types and rich wetland ecological resources. The Aogu Wetland Forest Park is primarily positioned for 'wetland conservation' and 'environmental education,' aiming to become a base for ecotourism and educational research.
