Deep within Wuling Farm, the song of the forest, composed of crimson maples, pine forests, waterfalls, and the Formosan landlocked salmon, is the most impressive image of Wuling National Forest Recreation Area. This is Taiwan's third national forest recreation area, about a 4-hour drive from Taipei, with an elevation of approximately 1800 meters. However, due to the descent of cold air from the high mountains, it can be very cold. The most iconic attraction in the park is undoubtedly the Taoshan Waterfall Trail. The two-needle pine forest along the way is exceptionally serene, and the rich forest ecology is also a major highlight here. Formosan macaques, Swinhoe's pheasants, Mikado pheasants, and Vinaceous rosefinches are frequent visitors. At the end of the trail, the magnificent "Taoshan Waterfall," with its powerful cascade of water and mist, is breathtaking, releasing an abundance of negative ions to soothe travelers' minds. From Wuling Suspension Bridge, you can also observe the national treasure fish in Qijiawan Stream—the Formosan landlocked salmon! The crimson leaves of Taiwan red maple and green maple in autumn, along with cherry blossoms in spring, are beautiful seasonal features of Wuling National Forest Recreation Area, making it a must-visit destination when in the Wuling area! Formosan macaques are frequently sighted in Wuling National Forest Recreation Area. To minimize human-macaque conflicts, please observe the 4 "No" rules: 1. Do not feed: Feeding lowers macaques' vigilance towards humans, leading them to snatch human food and potentially endangering personal safety. Feeding also alters macaques' natural behavior and ecology, increasing the likelihood of conflict between macaques and humans. 2. Do not touch: Avoid contact with macaques to prevent common human-macaque diseases such as Herpes B virus, rabies, and gastrointestinal parasites. If a macaque jumps on you, do not panic, scream, or try to swat it away; calmly move away from the spot, and the macaque will leave on its own. 3. Do not disturb or provoke: Do not stare, tease, provoke, or allow children to be alone, to reduce human-macaque conflicts. 4. Do not expose food: Snacks, fruits, drinks, or any strongly scented food items should be stored inside your backpack, not held in your hand. Also, do not open your backpack in front of macaques to reduce conflicts arising from them attempting to take food.
